Hog Ring Set
I have a tape dispenser which I don't like very much so I bought the hog ring plied set to try it out. I like the plied set better but I had a hard time getting them tight. The rings tend to slip while squeezing the pliers and you have to adjust the pliers/rings to squeeze a second, sometimes third time. I think the notches in the pliers should be deeper or the pliers could have a flat area to finish the rings off to a tight condition. Maybe it was operator error but we packaged 140 lbs of meat so I would have thought I would have figured it out by the end. I'd still recommend these as they are better than taping the bags.

They work, but....
The products, hog ring ties and the pliers perform exactly as described, but......two things. 1) you really have to crunch HARD and frequently several times on the same hog ring, to make a solid close without letting the ground meat squeeze out - unless you want really loose meat in your sausage casings......and 2) it doesn't solve the problem of having a fully encased brat for cooking and sharing with friends. unless you put two hog rings in-between each brat along with plenty of casing to help keep them separate.
Still better than the twisting which comes undone as soon as the brats defrost........ would LOVE to hear from someone who's got this down! we love making our own breakfast sausage and brats from our own hogs!

Hog rings
The rings were packaged in a paper box which opened during shipment. The rings spilled and some were lost through a crack in the shipping box. A plastic container would be a better package.

Works well for crimping loops in rope.
I use these to make loops in 3/8 inch rope, for spikes to attach to the ground to mark parking spaces in an RV storage lot. Holds up to getting run over, rarely have any pull apart.

Frustrating Tool
I was quite disappointed in the performance of this tool. Instead of a single squeeze, it took six or more attempts to close each ring. Some popped out of the jaws completely, while others didn't bypass properly, and just got in their own way. Using string was faster and more secure. I had high hopes, as my LEM stuffer is of the highest quality.

We love your products. We are thinking about purchasing your sausage tie machine for sausage making. Thank you for having quality products!

not necessary to have
Do not waste you money on the pliers, they are not necessary. Channel locks work the best. The metal clamps are fine and easy to use

3/8 hog rings/ pliers
not happy... ends hit when crimped, 2 out of 4 rings. Returned one pair of pliers because rivet was loose. New pair better but still have issue with ends hitting when crimping. Have to adjust rings to have ends bypass for a good crimp.
