Great Grinder for all uses.
I've used the #5 for several years now and could not be more pleased. I have no idea how many deer it has ground up plus pork. This is the ideal grinder for a household. I just upgraded to the #12 for a bit more HP to handle the 25 lb meat mixer and semi frozen meat. LEM products are outstanding. I have their tenderizer that attaches to the grinder which makes tenderizing meat effortlessly. I have their MAXVAC 1000 Vacuum Sealer with the MAXVAC Roll Holder & Cutter. The MAXVAC is the best Vacuum sealer I've ever used and I've had several of the Foodsaver models and the MAXVAC puts them to shame.
#5 big bite grinder.
I was really impressed on how fast it grinds up meat but the only thing that I was concerned about was how hot it gets. The motor shut off after grinding around 150 pounds of meat and wouldn't restart again until it had cooled down which took close to a half hour. Ground up around 30 pounds of meat the next day and it still got hot but didn't shut the grinder down. The auger piece that is by the bushing gets hot enough to start making the meat steam as you are putting the cold meat in. You wouldn't think it would do this after only grinding around 30 pounds of deer meat and pork butt together. If it wasn't for that I would rate it a 5 star.
A Tough Grind
Chomps through the meat with ease. Quiet and sturdy and cleans up neatly. A little pricey but hopefully we get what we pay for.

Absolutely buy this. Fast enough for me, quiet, easy to run and did not stall at all. Perfect for the 2 to 4 deer per year and grinding up our own ground beef about every other month.
Killed an Elk this year, ground 60 to 70 lbs of elk and 20 lb of pork, grinder worked great. Used it as a stuffer too, that did good. Perfect for home use.

we love the big bite grinder/jerky stripper/juicer. we used it first on chicken breasts and beef slices to make fajita strips and meat strips to pressure can. It cut the meat beautifully as quickly as we could feed it, the foot control pedal was a great help. I wouldn't make tomatoe juice, salsa or sauce, ketchup, relish with out the grinder and the juicer. The grinder makes excellent hotdog style relishes and the juicer gets every drop with no seeds no skin and no bitter taste from including them. Way to go LEM, we love the combo, and so does our friend who bought an identical set after seeing ours in action. sue kidd

Bought the #5 at Bass Pro on Black Friday. Did a first grind of 82 lbs of venison and 30 lbs of pork. Split the grinds into 5 separate batches and prepped 25 lbs of each of regular breakfast sausage, hot breakfast sausage, regular summer sausage, and jalapeno summer sausage. Left the rest as a rough grind mix for chili. Had no problems even with larger chunks of venison, grinder never slowed down. Did a fine grind of the venison/pork mix after adding seasonings. then used the stuffing tubes. everything worked great. First grind of 112 lbs was less than an hour. Break down and cleaning is a breeze. Sent off for my free foot switch but even without it sausage stuffing was easy after a little trial and error. Wish I'd have bought one of these years ago. Now looking at a LEM slicer for jerky.
I purchased this grinder to process my own deer. Grinder works great along with very easy clean up and storage back in the original box. Good quality grinder at a reasonable price.,
Omg, it's so good. Machine is faster than me. I myself and my mom purchased one each, we love the big machines. Store bought veiny and fatty mixed meats no more!!!
#5 Big Bite Grinder
Disclaimer: I've never used a meat grinder before, so maybe I'm inexperienced in what's good or not. But I think this grinder is f##king great. I've so far ran two 4 lb pork shoulders through it. I just dropped the slices in the hole, and it ate it and spit it out. No stomper needed. It only took a few minutes. The limiting factor was how fast I could feed it, not how fast it could grind. As for the guy complaining about needing to force the stomper for regrinding already ground meat, that is true. It did take more effort to get ground meat down the hole. I did need the stomper when doing that to stuff sausages. This was due to the smallish size of the hole. It's not a big deal though. I didn't find it that difficult. I've watched you tube videos of people using other grinders, and you can hear the motors straining when they pushed meat into them. You could also see the meat output very noticeably slowing down, and almost stopping as they pushed more meat into the straining machines. This one took everything I put in it and the motor never changed pitch or sounded strained. the meat output never slowed down. So far, I'm thrilled with this grinder.

LOL got tired of using 2 small grinders so bought this one and would recommend it to any one that dose there own processing will do any thing you throw at it a lot better and faster then my other 2 but will keep the smaller LEM's also as a back up ........ No problems with doing brats .summer sausage can even do Hot dogs with no problems, don't knock um unless you have tried a Elk Hot Dog yum yum yum
So Far So Good
Huge improvement over my old Waring Pro grinder that I used for years. First time using it I just did a 7 lb pork butt for some ground pork for the freezer. First grind was done in about 5 minutes. Second grind thru the fine plate took about 10 minutes. Packaged and in the freezer in less that 1/2 hour is pretty good. Much quieter also.
This grinder is awesome!!! Not sure what previous reviewer was talking about. Ground 4 goose breasts with 1 pound of pork sausage without even picking up the stomper, in five minutes. This thing is crazy good!
Very hard to make smokies with this grinder
You just about have to sit on the stomper to get the ground meat down the throat to the stuffing tube . Hand operated stuffer would work so much quicker and easier. I hope it's not this difficult to make Italian Sausage .
