Savory but too salty
I've been making my own sausage, using my own seasonings for years. This time I thought that I try the LEM Bratwurst Fresh Sausage mix. I like the savory flavor of this mix, however it is a bit too salty for my taste.
I made an outstanding product on my first try! Taste is exceptional. Now I plan to take it to the next level with beer and cheese mixed in.
Home made sausage
This is the best mix ever. Three generations of my family been for our home made venison and wild pork sausage. Brats and sweet Italian are the favorites in my household and we only use backwoods!
Every thing I have received from LEM has been the best
Every thing that I have used from LEM has been great!! thanks
We love this seasoning. Word of note - the recipes call for X number of teaspoons. When we have made it using level teaspoons our family has a hard time tasting the flavors so I use heaping teaspoons and it comes out great. But that may just be our family. Experiment!
Awesome sausage seasonings
Makes awesome Brats
Love All the sausage mixes ..... Easy to use, great taste. What else could you ask for?
Not for me
I am not a fan of the bratwurst seasoning.
Best brat seasoning ever.
New to sausage making but not sausage eating. I followed the directions on the packet except substituted an Amber Ale for the water. Used a course grind and hog casings. I let them rest uncovered overnight in the fridge, then grilled them on my Traeger. All 4 of us in our family thought they were the best Brats we've ever had. I agree with a couple other comments that the nutmeg was a little heavy handed but my family disagreed. I will be buying more as the "fam" has already begged for more.
Best Brats Ever!!!
Best Brats I've ever eaten and that is in Wisconsin, Minnesota, many US German restaurants and German restaurants in other countries. I just follow the direction and wow great brats. If you don't mix evenly you may get some that are a little salty. Simply add an 1/2-1 lb of meat for every 20 lbs of seasoning to even it out if you are worried. A bun, onions, and mustard and any slightly salty brats will be fine. You WILL NOT beat this seasoning!
TOO MUCH NUTMEG
this mix I too strong with nutmeg until you cut it with garlic and onion powder. also it contains MSG that we won'tput into a customers product
I used 3lbs venison and 2 lbs spicy pork breakfast sausage. I replaced the water with an IPA beer and added 8oz. Sharp cheddar cheese. I ran all ingredients through a coarse plate in a grinder then stuffed in cologne cassings. The brats turned out GREAT! I will be buying more for sure
Made 25lbs with the Elk I harvested, One ting I forgot was to use the beer I purchased instead of water, would have been perfect if I wasn't a bone head and forget the beer.
Made my Bratwurst with the Elk I harvested this year. Great flavor, would not add a thing.
We absolutely love this seasoning! We also use beer for the liquid seems to take it to the next level.
The overall flavor is very good. WAY TOO SALTY. this would be a fabulous product if the salt was reduced by 25 percent. You can mix more meat to it but there goes the main flavor.
My family loves these brats
I've made several batches using this seasoning mix. So far every batch has been venison with pork/pork fat added. I normally use beer as the liquid ingredient. I blend with a hand-cranked meat mixer then stuff into casings. The sausages rest overnight, then I vacume seal and freeze. The resulting brat is delicious. There are lots of different ways to season bratwurst, I find this one to be good.
Visited my sister in CO, she used this seasoning . My husband is from Germany and loves Bratwurst as do I. We love her Brats so much, I am now order the season.
just bought a package of bratwurst seasoning for 25 pounds and found it to be overpowering with nutmeg and a touch on the salty side, as well as lacking garlic and onion. I would not recommend this product unless you really love nutmeg and msg.
