The latching mechanism is plastic and requires considerable downward force to compress the gasket enough to latch the top and seal the unit enough to draw a vacuum I am not confidant that the plastic will hold up very long. I will be using it in a couple of weeks when I butcher a couple of hogs so will find out if it will hold up.
The bags from LEM are thick and like the MaxVac, work flawlessly first time and every time. No leaks and no failures which translates to no waste of bags or spoiled food. Great product from a great company.
