GREAT LOW BUDGET GRINDER
Oct 11, 2015 | Posted By Scott Browne from Raymond, NH United States
I bought this grinder in August of 2014. I went 3 ways with my brother and dad ,probably should of got a higher end one but oh well. We processed 4 deer last year. I also made over 10 pounds of spicy Italian sausage. The sausage process was a little slow but did the job. They came out amazing. I just processed my first deer this year with no issues. I'm definitely using it a little more than recommended.. I haven't had it clog yet.. 5 stars from me

I finally used my new LEM#8 Meat Grinder model #1113 for two days making Seafood, Fish and Salmon Sausage. It was a please for me using this tool compared to the (2) other budget priced electric grinders I have. They will be passed on to someone or stored away. Today I'll be making 10 lbs of SlimJims and 10 lbs. of Summer Sausage. I highly the model #1113, especially for the $price$. It is all most folks are going to need in their kitchen. It has all the power and capacity you'll need for non commercial applications. I also purchased the LEM #8 Sausage Stuffing Plate, the 3/8" plate and their #8 Stainless Steel Grinder Knife. I figured and additional set of stuffing tubes (1/2", 1" and 1 3/8") were in order too. I am very pleased and highly recommend LEM products. Thanks for being out there!! I'll be back!!! Semper Fi! Godspeed!!
good grinder

worth the money. I got mine as a gift about 3-4 years ago. we use it every year and it has ground up a lot of deer between the family. only problem is i put a piece in backwards and it broke the gears. they fixed it under warranty. im about to buy this exact grinder for my parents
Broke quickly and LONG lead time on replacements.

Purchased and used about 6 times for making burger. The Silicone seal went bad and the web site says replacement kit back ordered 2 months. emailed CS. Replay was sorry, let them know if there is anything else they can do to help. A previous review was replied back by a LEM CS Rep stating they always stock replacement parts. Maybe not the case? All in All it worked good for the time it worked.

I bought this grinder to make ground turkey. The grinder plate easily clogs interrupting the grinding process. I have to take it apart for cleaning then resume. Freezing the meat does help. You can only grind two lbs before it re clogs.
great grinder

I have had my grinder for 6 years and it does at least 3 deer a year. The last two I have helped grind a friends as well so it has done 7 deer in the last 2 years. I think I wore it out this year. It didn't want to grind the last one Great grinder, well worth the money.

Would like to have more attachments for your 575 #8 grinder, like a tenderizer. Would be very nice.

Have used mine for a couple of years now. Found out the hard way, about my third or fourth use, that it has plastic gears. Off warranty, so they sent me the gears and I put it back together. Noisy, and underpowered, but it continues to give me good service. Am not pleased with the aluminum and plastic though, so will be upgrading soon.
Defintely Worth It

I bought this grinder to replace my #10 hand crank since I am now buying my meat in bulk and using the LEM meat bags to repackage it. I can say I have had no issues what so ever with this grinder for occasional use. It's the best, not a commercial grinder by any means, but for those who do meat processing at home, it's definitely worth every penny. Thank you LEM for such a great product!

Worked good for a couple seasons, then went belly up... If you want one that's gonna last, you may want a better one.
Used for the Second Season

Have used this grinder for the second season and just finished my 7th deer with it. Noisy, a little slow but does the job for me and has not failed me yet.
Great for deer

I used a 220v H*bart monster for years, could stuff the whole deer in and it wouldn't blink, then moved down to C*belas 1HP commercial, also a good grinder, now wanted a light, easy to move grinder for deer. I was sceptical that this grinder could do it but I was happy with the results. I cut the meat in strips to fit down the tube and it pulls meat in without plunger. I did get the meat cold first, not quite frozen. Also, most importantly, wash and dry all parts, spray with PAM or olive oil well, nothing will stick inside. You can almost just rinse any meat particles out. I didn't use for sausage stuffing. I bought the awesome 5 pound stuffer, much easier to control and my kids can do it while I watch NHL on tv. Bonus plan. If you do 1-3 deer a year, its perfect. It is a little loud. It does have plastic gears but comes with an extra gear for the auger.
Great buy

Had this little machine for 3 years and just finished my 7th deer using this grinder. Make my own sausage and for its size it does it all well.

Used this grinder to grind 90 pounds of Elk, 15 pounds to pork trim and a few pounds of beef fat. The grinder chewed right through the meat with no problems, the pork trim didn't even bog this unit down. This is a very nice grinder for the cost.
Great little grinder for the money.

Nice grinder. really eats up the meat. Right up to the first five minutes until the plastic gear broke into three pieces. Lem must know about this problem since they send you a spare part in the box. If it breaks every five minutes , going to need a lot more spare parts.
Good grinder/limited power

i bought this a couple of years ago. it is great to handle most typical home use--grinding hams, chicken, pickles, beef. i have been very pleased. i do occasionally grind quahogs (clams) and these can be very stringy. i think that i may have feed the meat too fast but apparently i blew an oil seal and although it runs, it now leaks oil. i like it enough that i am buying another, as i am pretty sure that it was my fault. LEM does sell plenty of more powerful options.
great light duty grinder

At camp we have been using the #22 grinder for large runs of deer. We also have the 688 saw for cutting roast, steaks and chops. But for at home in the off season for some fresh ground meat I bought this little grinder (5 to 10 pounds at a time). Now it does squeal alot and you have to cut the meat into smaller pieces and you just have to take you time. It works great for the price point. But if you are expecting it to grind like a #22, then you are wasting your money. you get what you pay for, just like any tool.

got the #8 lem and i love my grinder, great power fast and easy set up. My only complaint is one stuffer and it was for big sausage not breakfast sausage, but ordered on line some new stuffers so we will see how that goes.. thanks
not a bad small grinder

i am going to buy one of these soon. but my friend has one it works great if you know how to use a grinder.people think you just turn on a grinder and stuff meat in it, then complain cause it doesn't work well. first you have to chill the meat in strips freeze the auger. a cold grinder is a happy grinder. venison is the hardest to grind if you dont remove all the silver stuff from thye meat it like to wrap up around the blade on any grinder making it almost impossible to grind until you clean it out. this is agreat small machine if used right

Works great! I used it to grind venison from 2 deer mixed with pork. I also made and stuffed sausage and use it frequently to grind beef when the local store has roasts on sale.I still would like to get a pro-quality grinder someday but this will do fine until then and will make a great gift because it'll probably still be working if I don't abuse it.
great starter grinder

this is the second season using this grinder and I have not been disappointed yet. I have made many differnt types of cured and fresh sausage and have ground vesion, pork and beef. the unit works best if the meet is semi frozen.

My dad bought me a "jerky cannon" about 4 years ago, that was my first experience with LEM products. that thing was awesome, so i knew i wanted LEM products if i could find them. i would love one of those stainless steel jobs, but let's get real. this 575 Watt did the trick...I've been looking for a grinder that can do about 1-2 deer a year. i believe i have found it! i've borrowed my cousin's and friend's 450 Watt grinders several times over the last 5 years or so. (i use to do it by hand but don't have the time these days and the wife doesn't like me clamping someone on the table ;) I used this one tonite to do about 50Lbs of trim to burger. wow. i was impressed. It chewed thru it faster than i could feed it. This grinder is no more loud than any other in its category either. i am just hoping it lasts, i don't see why not, it appears better built than others in the same price range. also, i will admit i am pretty sloppy when i debone deer, and not once did i have the grinder stop or bog down! nice work folks, i am glad i stayed with the LEM product line!

I bought my grinder a week ago... I am very pleased wth it... I have just finished up grinding a total of 50lbs of meat to make sausage with... Not 50lbs at one time... But this grinder works fine for me... No problem at all with it... I have a sausage stuffer I stuff with... I would recommend it to anyone for the price...

I bought this 2 years ago to replace my Oster grinder which finally died after almost 30 years of faithful service. Unfortunately, I never mailed in the warranty card and used the grinder for the first time this spring, 2011, to make 40 Lbs. of sausage for Easter. This is the noisiest grinder I've ever heard. The high pitch squeeling, resembling metal to metal contact, was so annoying I had to wear ear plugs to protect what's left of my hearing. It grinds OK, but stuffing casings was a problem. It came with only one stuffing tube which is larger than the one I used with my Oster. Because casings are not a standard size, it was time consuming trying to put them on the larger tube. Since my old Oster tube wouldn't fit, due to a size difference in the base diameter, I had to make a shim and got it to work anyway. Overall, a frustrating experience.

Warranty and replacement parts

I received a 575 watt #8 Lem meat grinder for Christmas. I went to use it this past weekend to grind up some bologna to make ham salad but when I turned it on, it sounded like I was grinding nuts and bolts. The bologna never even made it past the grinder. 2 of the vinly gears completely fell into pieces. Questions; 1)Is this covered by warranty, 2) where can I order new gears, 3)does Lem make metal replacement gears. I'm not a very happy camper. Having not been able to even use the grinder, I could not give it a very good rating based on initial performance!! Denny, please send the unit back wiht your warranty and we will fix or replace it at no cost. Sorry this happened. We have been happy with the power of these new grinders. Sorry it did not work out for you.
