LEM's Natural Casings make juicier, tender sausage - and they're now available pre-tubed! Casings come in salted brine and on a "straw". The casings will need to be soaked for at least 30 minutes and flushed. To use after cleaning: simply put the tube/straw over the stuffing tube and hold the casing back and pull out the straw. No more trying to find the end! No more knots! No more feeding the casing on the tube! No more tearing the casing when feeding on the tube! Properly salted and refrigerated, casings should last a year. Edible.

LEM's Natural Casings make juicier, tender sausage. They provide a distinctive "pop" when you bite into sausage stuffed in natural casings. These casings should be rinsed in warm water several times, then soaked in water for one hour until soft and pliable. Refrigerate after the bag has been opened. To store, cover casings with salt, place in an air-tight container and refrigerate. Properly salted and refrigerated, casings should last a year. Edible.

A Note About #141 - 8 oz. Natural Hog Casings & #234 - 5 oz. Natural Sheep Casings: The #141 8 oz. pack of Natural Hog Casings and the #243 5 oz. pack of Natural Sheep Casings contain what the industry calls "shorts". These vary in length and diameter. The quality of the casings are identical to the hanks, they are just shorter pieces. One pack will stuff approximately 25 lbs, which makes them ideal for the home sausage maker or hobbyist.

Make sausage stuffing easier
Tried the pre-tubed natural hog casing for the first time and it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. If you use natural casings, it's the only way to go. It's such a time saver and easy to use. I recommend it.

pre tubed sausage casings
sausage casings were very hard to get off of straws . when they were off they quite often ruptured , would not waste my money again on them. a total waste of time and money not recomended.

These casings were sub par in quality. They broke easily when twisting and hand no strength what so ever. We press several hundred pounds per week and Id never ever ever buy these again. Tested and failed.

Only casings to use
Have try collagen casings, horrible when cooking....these are great. We prefer the smaller casings as opposed hog casing for our Italian sausage. The ones with the straw inserted are worth the extra money, because the ease of use.....the time saved is amazing.

Pre-tubed Hog Casings
Like the pre-tubed sheep casings, these are convieient and easy to use. They save time and frustration. Casings are all uniform length, no shorts or pieces, and no knots to deal with. They are pricey, considering the cost in relation to a hank, but unless you are making a boatload of sausages, I find they are worth the extra expense. Price is the reason they get 4 stars, but I will continue to purchase these.

Pre-tubed Sheep Casings
Easy to use, as with all natural casings, they seem to work best on a WET metal stuffing tube, vs. the plastic ones. All tubes seem to be equal length, no pieces. A bit pricey, but the time savings and frustration level is low, not having to deal with shorts or knots. Price was the only reason I gave it 4 stars.
