I was burning up a Food Saver about every yr and a half so I wanted a good heavy duty vac sealer. Read the reviews and got the 1088. I could suck more air out of the bag with a straw and ziplock. I tried the bags that came with it, food saver bags, pressed hard on the lid and less on the lid no luck. It does seal real good. I called customer service, nice folks. I returned the machine twice, still have the same problem. Guess it is time to go back to the food saver.
Great Vacuum sealer
Just received unit - have vacuum sealed juicy ham with ease. My other unit (best $$ one from Cabala's) would not have sealed through the juice. This one seams to sense vacuum level better, and seals well. I subtracted one star, as the hole for the vacuum tube to vacuum seal canisters/mason jars is just slightly larger than the "usual" hole for the tubing. (I had 3 different vacuum tubings from cabala's brand, SealAMeal, and another my mom had. All were the same size - too small.) I placed a small piece of electrical tape around the tip, which allowed me to finish my task. I then ordered the MaxVac hose ($3.99) from LEM, which fit perfectly. I would have ordered one when I ordered my VS if I would have known the others didn't fit. Also, the electrical plug is a little loose, looses contact occasionally. Wish there was a place to store it inside the unit.
I bought this vacuum sealer to replace the food saver sealer I was using. It is junk it doesn't remove enough air to even look like it's vacuum sealed. I have tried different types of bags including LEM and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I have a $69.00 Seal a Meal in my RV that I have gone back to using which does a great job.
We like to do our own venison and mix it with pork so each year we do a butcher day. This MaxVac 1088A was a great addition to our already LEM equipment. Very happy was LEM's products.
My 1088 vacuum sealer
Used my new model 1088 today for the first time. I started sealing roast in bags and it didn't run very long at all. I thought something was wrong. I checked the package and found that this sealer is so much faster than my Food Saver and Kenmore brand sealers. It sealed the bags very well and I finished up rather quickly. Although I didn't get the 1088A I feel this unit is just as good. I don't see a problem with lid not being weighted, if need be I can do it myself. I can't wait until next hunting season so I can really put it to a test. I'm sure my fish this summer will put it to use also.
Fast and quiet
Made 40 pounds of snack sticks total bags sealed 35 with no problems. Love the auto seal. Every sausage and jerky equipment I own is LEM. And great fast shipping every time.
Best Vacuum packer yet
I have owned a lot of the "other" variety of food sealers over the years but this new LEM unit is the best I have ever used. Admittedly I do miss the roll cutter but its absence has not slowed me down a bit. Much better Vacuum and stronger seal on the bags than the less expensive sealers, and I can package 20 lbs. of sausage without having to wait for the sealer to cool off. Worth the additional price.
Love it. Works good we do lots of deer and it works good...
Bad Buds Jerky has used this for 4 years with only replacing the heating element.
Have the Orignal MaxVac # 1088. Have to push on lid every time to seal. Would never buy it if I knew it operated that way.
I am REALLY hard on any equipment I have, because I use it so much. My Foodsaver was no exception. I had a Food Saver with an accessory port because I primarily seal jars with a Food Saver Jar Attachment. I wore out the Food Saver in no time flat, and the jars weren't staying sealed. I ordered the LEM New and Improved MaxVac Sealer, and that this has held to my abuse. The Food Saver accessories fit the Accessory Port on the LEM model. The only complaint I have is that the LEM model won't handle the off brand of bags I have, so I have to do them on a Food Saver until I get them used up. The LEM model does great on the LEM bags, so the probelm is with the bags I have, not the LEM sealer. I love my LEM sealer, because I can seal thousands of jars with dried food and keep them perfectly fresh. And the LEM customer service is absolutely wonderful. I've had my sealer for nearly a year and abused it with overuse, and it is still working great. It is totally worth the extra money.
Best money can buy
After years of frustration with Foodsavers, I finally got the LEM vac sealer. WOW! In the first weekend, I did a moose, an elk and three white tail deer. Everything from roasts and steaks to sausage and jerky. The first time that I actually enjoyed vac sealing with no problems. What a machine. First time ever that one machine lasted the whole season. Five star without a doubt!!! Thanks for an amazing product.
