I just purchased the #12 grinder after years of hunting and processing deer and using sub standard grinders. I cant believe that I spent all those years without a grinder like this one. I process all my own deer and was always too cheap to buy a good product. This grinder goes thru tendon and silver skin without even the slightest bogging down. I was able to grind the really tough pieces like the forearm and shoulder with no problem at all. I didnt have to stop and clean off the faceplate a single time. And it is very quiet. Take it from a guy who has processed hundreds of deer for myself and friends/family. Spend the extra money and get one of these if you process your own deer/elk/moose etc..
I bought this primarily to grind deer and elk, but I couldn't wait until we get to next season to try it. I bought 10 pounds of beef roast at 10 cents/lb more than hamburger. I trimmed some of the thick fat off, sliced it into chunks and ran it through the grinder. Zero bogging (only one grind) and the burger beat the heck out of the quarter beef we bought last year. Assembly is simple, and so is cleanup. I've been using a Bosch for years, and I wish I would have bought this a long time ago.
Big bite #12
What a great grinder. Chews up deer meat like no other grinder ive ever used. Paired with the foot petal switch sausage stuffing is a breeze.
I bought the #12 Grinder after using an older version that I borrowed from a friend, I was amazed at the quality of the grinder and the price is pretty good for the quality put into this product. Any other grinder at equal quality would usually cost twice as much. Well done
SS Big Bite #12 Grinder
Very good product. Would highly recommend this product
Great meat grinder
Got to witness one in use on my Wyoming hunting trip last year and it worked great. Decided I needed one for my self.
Excellent Meat Eater
This is a nice heavy duty grinder and performs really well. This thing will grind meat faster than you can feed it. It took me about 2 minutes to grind 12 pound of pork for sausage. I would highly recommend this grinder if you are a home sausage maker or any other grinding. I didn't stuff my casings with this grinder, I use a Lem 10 pound vertical stuffer for stuffing casings. I am going to purchase the attachment Big Bite fruit and vegetable extractor/juicer for making tomato sauce this fall. thank you Lem for great products.
I ordered this grinder for sausage making, processing beef, pork, chickens, and wild game, and for grinding soaked, sprouted grains. It is an amazing machine, and makes processing even a whole cow seem possible. I have ground about 30 pounds of chicken and pork for sausage, and it never once had a difficulty with the job. It could take it as fast as I could give it. It is fast and efficient and an excellent investment. It was steady and worked well for stuffing the sausages, as well. For grinding soaked sprouted grains, it has also been extremely effective. We love our grinder and will be back if ever we need a replacement.
Big Bite Brut
Bought the number 12 and just love it, my friend bought the 22 and I think my 12 is just as good, only bad thing I can say to lem is I purchased my grinder through Amazon and saved $50.00, however I do buy most of my supplies directly from Lem and will continue to do so.
#12 Big Bite Review
This thing is a beast! Using the medium grind plate for venison cut into 2-inch cubes or strips up to 4 inches long, I can scarcely keep up with it. The tray holds about 5-6 lbs of prepared meat, and is empty in less than a minute. I spend more time trying to refill the tray than I do actually grinding. I never need the tamper on the first grind. Using the small grind plate during the second grind, a 20% pork fat mix will need the tamper just to get in contact with the auger. Once there, it's quickly out the end. I was actually surprised that the motor didn't even slow down when it encountered the still-frozen cubes of pork fat. Only time will tell if the #12 Big Bite is durable. As of now (25lbs processed), it's looking great. Cleaning is also easy, since the head disassembles quickly and without any small areas remaining that a bottle brush doesn't reach. Time is your enemy when you want to avoid bacteria while processing meat in a room that is not refrigerated. I shudder to think how much longer it would take had I purchased a smaller grinder, or the KA mixer attachment I was considering. This unit was pricey (for me), but I'm very happy that I purchased it.
Concern with lem big bite 12 grinder
Purchased the 12 big bite grinder overall it is a great grinder my concern is I ground about 50 lb of chunk venison through the big plate and then the small plate, when I finished the back of the auger was real hot to the touch, did I grind to much at one time?
Owner Response: Please contact our Service Team to discuss at 877.336.5895. We do recommend letting the unit rest during busy processing times. Thank you for your business.
LEM Big Bite grinder #12
I could go on and on about how good this grinder is but will some it up in one word. WOW!
I have wanted a grinder for quite a while. I tried one that attaches to a well known stand mixer and was very disappointed. I have looked a LEM for over a year. As a typical guy I wanted the 1.5 horse but just couldn't justify the cost (to the wife). After reading a review from someone that wanted the 1 horse but found the .75 horse the be more than large enough. I decided to try the .75 horse and am extremely happy. I made my first 50 lbs of brauts and it went through the pork shoulder as fast as I could feed it. I cut the shoulder into strips as long as the shoulder and just small enough around to fit into the feed tube. It ground as fast as I feed it. On the second grind I found you don't even need the stomper if you feed it handfuls small enough to fall through the feed tube. if you do that you can not feed it fast enough. The only problem I have is it does such a good job you don't get a lot of time to play with it. Before you know it you have a freezer full of ground meat and brauts. I now have a hard time passing the bulk meat section without thinking of what I could grind. All in all I can not recommend this grinder enough. And unless you have a commercial butcher shop the .75 will meet all of your needs.
Just bought a a #12 grinder and some heavy duty meat lugs. Run 60 pounds of meat through the grinder and it never slowed down. Thanks to it and the stout tubs ground and package all of it in less than 2 hours. Top in grinder worth every penny. Thanks LEM on another great product
Grinding everything from chicken to pork - this thing doesn't care. A really great machine. Cleans up nicely, too.
LEM .75 hp grinder
This was first deer season with the big bite 3/4 hp and it's been awesome. Have run close to 300 pounds of meat through it and no problems at all add a foot switch and stuffing tube and it's just like a processing plant. Very quite and very powerful thanks LEM for a great grinder
This grinder works very well and is very quiet. The Big Bite feeds very easy. The quilty of LEM grinders is second to none!! I would definitely buy more products from this company.
I put five deer through this bad boy back to back with the small die and never touched the meat plunger or stopped to clear the grinder plate or blade
I previously used a .2 HP table top grinder, you know the kind that look like a glorified toaster, and it would routinely take me 70-90 minutes to grind 40 pounds or so of venison. I bought this over the summer, looking to speed up the grinding task of deer processing as everyone in our family had begun to dread it. I just did 32 pounds of venison in just under 7 minutes with the large die! And 6 pounds through the small die (straight from meat chunks through the small) in 95 seconds, both times with just one person operating it. I trimmed all large chucks of fat off, and about 50% of the total silver skin. With the old grinder I would have to stop and clean out the silver skin from the blade and die once or twice since they would get plugged with the silver skin. Not so with this one! At the end, there was virtually no skin any where in the grinder- it had cut it up and pushed it through. A note about the big bite- it works! I would push leg shank chunks into the feed tube, and had to use the plunger as they really were too big. But as soon as it touched the auger, it sucked it right through, and was free before my hand could bring up another piece of meat. Clean up is simple and straight forward, and seems easier on this one then my past one. As one who processes his own deer, and those of the extended family, this grinder has made a dreaded task into an extremely easy and fast one. I had debated getting the 1 HP model, but I now doubt if it would really speed things up much- this one was grinding faster then I could feed it, and given the time it took, I could single handedly grind several deer in under half an hour. So I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money.
I had actually bought this as a Christmas present for my mom, but we ended up opening it up early. She absolutely loves it. We were surprised that it was a bit quieter than the smaller one of another brand that she's had since I can remember.
I purchased this grinder a couple months back to replace my older #8 Lem Grinder (which also worked excellent). This is an absolute excellent grinder, it is fast, quiet and efficient. When on the second grind especially pork if I just feed the grinder as it wants meat instead of forcing it like some folks think it has to be done the grinder does not heat the meat up and does an excellent job.
Just tried my new .75 hp LEM grinder on a 25# pork sausage batch. The meat grinder is a 5 star unit when grinding. But stuffing 25# was much harder because the machine would not feed very well on the second or stuff cycle. We had to force product through the unit to make it feed. Not really a problem on a 5 or 10# pound batch but a real pain for a larger batch. I will have to buy a sausage stuffing machine for the larger batch sizes.

I AM IN HEAVEN
I bought this grinder because I eat an all meat diet and I love to eat raw ground beef. This machine is everything I hoped it would be. It is easy to assemble and easy to clean. It produces excellent quality ground beef. The taste of freshly ground beef is vastly superior to the pre-ground beef . The best comparison is the difference between a fresh homemade juice verses a juice made a day or two earlier. There is simply no comparison. The freshly made ground beef, like the freshly made juice, is 10 times better. This is really noticeable when you eat it raw. Thanks LEM for a great product for a great price.
